UPM Collaborates with Pingtan Institute of Xiamen University to Enhance International Cooperation.

China, 29 April 2024 - Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) through the School of Business and Economics (SPE) is pleased to visit and hold discussions with the Pingtan Institute of Xiamen University (XMUPT) to develop strategic cooperation.

The delegation from the School of Business and Economics, UPM (SPE UPM) was led by Prof. Dr. Bany Ariffin Amin Noordin (Dean of SPE) and Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr Anuar Shah Bali Mahomed (Deputy Dean of Graduates) together with the Pingtan Institute of Xiamen University team namely Prof. Dr. Lin Fan (Rector, Pingtan Institute of Xiamen University), Prof. Dr. Dong Lunhai (Assistant Rector), Prof. Dr. Lin Fangfang (Director of Education Services), Prof. Dr. Wong Wing Keung (Chairman of the SDG UNESCO Charitable Foundation Committee, Hong Kong) and Dr. Chen Yongming (Industry Director) and other delegations have been involved in the discussion.

Following the successful establishment of cooperation, particularly in the implementation of the Postgraduate Offshore Programmes through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on April 28, 2024, at Xiamen University, China, additional cooperation has been agreed, including staff and student exchanges, joint international conferences, joint research, mobility initiatives, executive development programs and the establishment of a Super Satellite Centre between SPE UPM and XMUPT. This marks an important step in strengthening academic ties and expanding educational and economic opportunities internationally.

The cooperation that is being worked on is expected to increase the reputation and impact of both institutions in the international arena as well as new opportunities for the development of knowledge and the sustainability of cooperation in the future.
