UPM And Shandong Normal University Sign MoU Together to Strengthen International Cooperation Especially in the Implementation of Postgraduate Offshore Programmes.

 

China, April 27, 2024 - Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), through the School of Business and Economics (SPE), has established a strategic partnership with Shandong Normal University, China (SDNU), through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at Shandong Normal University, China to strengthen international collaboration, particularly in the implementation of Postgraduate Offshore Programmes.

The MoU was signed by the Vice-Chancellor of UPM and witnessed by Prof. Dr. Bany Ariffin Amin Noordin (Dean of SPE) on behalf of UPM, while SDNU was represented by Prof. Dr. Zheng Yuan Jie (Vice President). Also present at the event from UPM were Prof. Dr. Ismi Arif Ismail (Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Academic and International) and Associate Professor Ts. Dr. Anuar Shah Bali Mahomed (Deputy Dean of SPE Graduate Studies). From SDNU, attendees included Prof. Dr. Zhou Lianyong (Director of the International Exchange and Cooperation), Prof. Dr. Li Xiaodi (Dean of the School of Mathematics and Statistics), Prof. Dr. Liu Jinkai (Secretary of the School of International Education) and Prof. Dr. Cui Wenxin (Deputy Director of Academic Affairs) and Dr. Zhang Qing (CEO@Centre for Industrial Relation and Network (CiRNeT), UPM).

Through this collaboration, SPE will implement Postgraduate Offshore Programmes at Shandong Normal University, China. The proposed implementation of SPE's Postgraduate Offshore Programmes is expected to commence from the November 2024 intake after obtaining approval for implementation. Among the programs proposed for offering are coursework-based master’s programs, including the Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Economics, Master of Finance, and Master of Entrepreneurship, as well as two new programs still in the approval process: Master of Human Resource and Organization and Master of Sustainable Accounting.

The collaboration also includes various initiatives, such as offering Joint Bachelor's and Postgraduate Programs or Dual Degrees, staff and student exchanges, and international visits between the two universities and student mobility programs.

This collaboration reflects the determination of both parties to build strong educational relationships and pursue innovation through knowledge sharing. Additionally, it creates opportunities to become strategic partners in academic exchange and mobility for lecturers and researchers, thus supporting SPE UPM’s initiative in enhancing lifelong learning. Shandong Normal University's proactive efforts in collaborating with external institutions, including UPM, are also crucial factors in strengthening this collaboration.
