FEP Students win United Nations, Hult Prize Regional Category

The Hult Prize, in partnership with the United Nations, is the world’s largest student competition for budding social entrepreneurs, and every year welcomes college and university students from all around the globe. The Hult Prize Foundation has been called the “Nobel Prize for Students” and has been featured in a TIME Magazine Cover Story highlighting the “Top 5 Ideas Changing the World.” One winning team will receive USD 1 million in seed capital, as well as mentorship and advice from the international business community.

Universiti Putra Malaysia has been selected to host the local edition of Hult Prize for the first time ever. Rijve Arefin, student of the Faculty of Economics and Management of Universiti Putra Malaysia, is the pioneer of the Hult Prize at UPM, who was selected as the Campus Director for 2017/18. Last year on December 10th the Hult Prize at UPM event took place where the talented UPM students showcased their ideas about how to harness the power of energy, the challenge thrown by President Bill Clinton for this year’s Hult competition. The Honorable Vice Chancellor of UPM Prof. Datin Paduka Dr. Aini Ideris graced the event with her presence. She mentioned that UPM will always support this kind of international events.

It is with great excitement we share that the top three teams of the Hult Prize at UPM event will be competing in three global regional finals. Rijve will be leading the teams to Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Cairo. He believes that this will give UPM an enhanced exposure in the global arena. Rijve is also serving a key role in the core organizing committee of the Regional Final in Kuala Lumpur.

Besides, Rijve has been invited to the Regional Final and Awards Reception at Boston, Massachusetts as one of the best Campus Directors. He will be flying to Boston next week to represent Universiti Putra Malaysia. He has also been selected for having a special role during the event. He will participate in the Hult Prize On Campus booth at the Hult International Business School in Boston, showcasing the great job he did while conducting a successful local Hult Prize competition in UPM. We wish him best of luck in his endeavor to take UPM to a greater height and represent UPM family in an international platform.
